Birthday card for a friend...

Flourished Envelope THANK YOU!

Recent... Alison/Martha--Funky!

Using a Pilot Parallel Pen dipped in Noodler's Navajo Turquoise and
Doc Martin's BP white... I used a 6.0 Parallel pen for the name.
Then, I added colored pencil to highlight it with purple and a
pointed nib Brause EF 66 to address the rest...
Finally, I used some oil pastels to create the gray shading.

Some funky lettering I was playing around with...
Using a .25 Hi Tec C pen to outline the same and then
colored pencils and white "Choose" pen for the highlights.
For the address, I used a Mitchell #4 broad-edged nib and gouache.

On the upper right of Martha's envelope...embellishment...
With a stylus and a soft "under surface", I wrote "love" and
then went over it with the side of a colored, Prisma pencil.

2002 envelopes.... dusting off the folder.....

I can't believe it's been 10 years since I did these envelopes, but
AT LEAST I can see the progress and how much better I am now.

I remember I used to use those brush markers a lot!  I love the cattails!

Luckily, they moved, so their address has changed and I can post these!

I used a stencil and chalk for the background on this envelope!

This was all done with watercolor... using the stamp for inspiration

I used a Pentel Color Brush for the name Melissa and the leaves

Using different colors and different hands/fonts help keep it interesting

I got inspiration from the stamp colors on this one

Using the Pentel color brush on the name, I incorporated a swirl to
house the address below the name

Trish, you are a wonder! Just when I think you could not possibly take on one more thing, you surprise me with yet another endeavor.

I think this is a great idea! You can show those new to calligraphy that you can start with a small palette -- you don't have to be able to write a whole page worth of text in order to enjoy the craft. The great thing about addresses is that you can concentrate on your letters, rather than trying to find the "essence" of a pithy quote. Great for those who are time challenged (me!)

I just wanted to let you know that I completed my envelope and it will go in tomorrow's mail. I know I am no different than some of the other artists in that overcoming inertia and deciding on the one idea out of the many is harder than one thinks it's going to be! Thoroughly enjoyed it and ended up doing the first design I had imagined even though I thought of others after. Thank goodness I have already decided on my February and it's not a valentine! (unless I decide to do 2 in February LOL)
Hope all is well with you. I have received my envelope in the mail on Saturday also. Thanks for your blog. It will be very, very, helpful!!!
